Almost there!

I'm not doing any real runs this week (other than the short/fast paced runs in the Boot Camp class). I want to give the good ol' legs a rest before this Saturday!

Tomorrow is my last day of Boot Camp..I'm upset because I won't be able to continue attending this class because they switched the time and it will be too late for me. It did serve a good purpose though, it gave me extra energy and I remembered what it was like to be truly challenged in a workout...so in 2009, I will be on a quest for a new boot camp class that I can commit to. I am also happy to report I actually do enjoy working out in the mornings! I almost don't know what to do with myself with all that free time after work! ;)

Tomorrow, up early for the last class and a good stretch at night to be ready in the morning!. Yippeee! I'm pretty excited :)

Can you believe her!?

Do you see the mini-Nikeplus-me on the right side?

She thinks I'm lazy...she thinks I just sit around and do nothing!!. Well, she is sort of right..I haven't been for a run this week, but I've got perfect excuses that I thought I would share with you before the mini-me convinces you that I'm a couch potato!. Monday and Tuesday I was out of commission due to the Alcohol Shot. Wednesday and Thursday I was up bright and early and got my behind kicked at Boot Camp!.

Today I am hoping to go out for a run before dinner, but I may not have time...so if I don't then I'm planning for two runs this weekend...a long one tomorrow and a shorter one on Sunday. The long one will hopefully be 6 miles!...uhhh, getting nervous about my 10 K!!!! I want to make sure I can do a couple of long runs before THE day!

Have a nice weekend!!!

Boot Camp, Day 1.

Hello campers readers.

So today was the first day of boot camp. The class was great...it was about 6 of us plus the instructor. It was a chilly morning, chilly for South Florida anyway..in the 50s!. I woke up at 7 to get a light breakfast before the class at 8am...by the time 8am rolled around, I truly felt ready to go.

After warming up, we did a push up and run test. I guess the last week we do the same tests and gauge how much we improved.

My results...
I was able to do 20 push ups on my toes + 15 on my knees. . The run was about a 1.2 mile run, as fast as you could go (did I mention it was in the 50s??...brrr). I was the newbie camper and came in first!! woohoo, my moment of glory!. My time was 9.10, not too shabby for just over a mile. I'm hoping to be in the 8s on the last week, we will see!

After that, we did 3 stations with 2 sets of 3 different types of exercises in each (lunges, squats, jumping rope, push ups, etc). after each station, we would run around the court after and finished up the class with one last time through all the stations (one set only). It was a good workout and I'm still feeling it!...(specially in my legs!)

BUT...

:(

It was not as good as my last Boot Camp. The one I attended for a little over a year and was forced to give up because of moving :(( ...ahhh, how I miss that Boot Camp. It was awesome! I'm trying to convince my sister to go so I can live it through her ;)

But it's ok, this one was still great and there is still nothing like getting a good workout outside!!. The rest of the day I felt energetic and great...until about 3pm, when I felt ready to crash and for a nap. Right now it's almost 5pm and I'm sipping a little Java, just to get me through!.

Tomorrow it's Day 2!. I don't think I can manage to run anymore today, so I will call that a day and hope to go running Friday and Sunday.

Happy Hump Day!

It's Official - Part Two

I signed up for Boot Camp!!!. Due to my crazy schedules (between travelling and my Podiatrist treatment), I had to get on a modified schedule and the first session starts on 12/3.

No time to mess around, I need to be ready to go for my 10K in one month and let's face it, I want to say happy New Year feeling good about how I look...so here is the plan.

  • Pump 1 day
  • Boot Camp 3 days
  • 2 short runs (3-4 miles)

It's Official!!!

One month from now I will be running in my first 10K!.

Did you all think I had been slacking?????...well, uhmm, yeah, I have been. Between this foot problem and travelling...and...well, I'll admit it, I've spent some time with that friend I like to call "Mr. Lazy". I need a kick in the behind and get moving!. I decided to not wait any longer and finish my registration for the race! and now, I'm officially registered to run on December 20th!!!

I'm also looking into joining a boot camp class in the mornings. I hate working out in the mornings, but maybe it's like an acquired taste or something. I thought the people that said they had a "great run" were lying just like the ones that said working out in the mornings gives them "energy for the entire day". Now that I know there IS such a thing as a 'great run', let's see if there is such a thing as a great morning workout.

I'm waiting to hear back from the instructor and set up a new routine. I figured weekly I could do:

- Boot camp 3 times a week (Maybe M-W-F)
- Two 3-4 mile runs (Tue and Thu)
- One long run (weekend)

I would like to fit a Pump or other Gym class in there somewhere. Maybe (just maybe) I really start loving this morning workout thing. If so, then maybe (again MAYBE) I could run Tuesdays and Thursdays in the morning and then do Pump Classes at night. Yep, it's nice to dream ;)

Not gonna lie, I'm skeptic, but we will see!
