My boys, the road trippers

Happy New Year everyone!

A couple of weeks ago, the hubs asked me what I thought about doing a road trip...as in driving 700 miles each way and heading to North Carolina!.

He should have known better...you don't ask a new mom that has been stuck in the house for months if she wants a change of scenery. No matter how crazy the trip sounds, the answer (at least from this momma!) is going to be "LET'S GO!!!"

We woke up one morning, looked at each other and said.."so? are we going?". I got up from the couch and walked away. He asked me where I was going...I said, I'm packing!. A few hours later the car was all packed!. When I say packed I mean you couldn't fit anything else in that car (and it's a big car!). You just have to be ready for everything when traveling with two newborns :)

So off we went!. The boys did great and we loved the area (we visited Asheville and Lake Lure). We spent New Year's there and it was great!. I gave the boys their morning bottles by the fire and they loved to take naps right there too :)

Here are a few pictures...

Lunch on the go (that's right, I travelled with my TWO boppy pillows and wouldn't go anywhere without them!)

And this was the scenery...I already miss it!

Look what else Santa brought me!

Thank you Santa hubster!!!!

I am so excited!!! I love gadgets (aka: I'm a dork) and they always help to keep me motivated.

First was my Polar watch...I loved it and used it for a long time to keep me motivated to reach my goals. Then it was my IpodNike+. I have loved it from day 1 and think it's what got me into running!...but it is for sissies beginners. Once you get serious about running, you are left with wanting more out of your gadget (but like I said, I'm a dork)

I have been wanting one of these for a while!. It's GPS enabled (no more guessing if the Nike+ is calibrated correctly!), tracks your distance, pace, calories, heart rate stats....AND when you get back from your run it's kind enough to send your workout info to your PC wirelessly!.

Seriously, how awesome is that?. It's like the Porsche of the running devices ;)

Maybe now I'm one step closer to running that Marathon in 2011 (yeah, I'm lazy realistic and won't be signing up for one in 2010 while I have infant twins :))

What did Santa bring you?

Look what Santa brought me...

I must have been a good girl this year!!!

Not only that, but guess who's the lucky girl that had her boys go to bed at 8pm and they woke up only once to eat at around 2:30am?? AND which mom had one baby waking up at 6:45 while the other one had to be WOKEN up at 7:15am because it was time to eat!?

Guess, guess...

That's right! THIS girl!

Merry Christmas!

Dear Santa...

I was wondering, if it's not too much trouble, to remove the alarm the boys have that alerts them when mommy is trying to catch a nap.

You see Santa, they take few naps...not always at the same time, and never very long. When they do take a nap, it would be nice if I could take a nap too. That is what I read in all the new mom books anyway..."sleep when the baby sleeps". Well, I guess whomever wrote that didn't take into consideration moms of multiples whose babies don't always want to nap at the same time!.

But, I'm not complaining...they do sometimes take a nap at the same time. They look happy and so cute when they do....that is until I put my head down on a pillow (or a boppy, or the dog...). Then they immediately wake up...like "whooooaaaaa mom, we ALL can't sleep at the same time!".

While I'm at it, and just in case you're listening, I want a few other things...(if it's not too much trouble)

- Could you tell my doggie to not walk in zig-zags when I have to push the double stroller?. I know, I know....I should have trained him to always walk on one side of me, but let's not get too technical and let me wish away.

- Could you magically have dinner delivered and served at my house by let's say, 8ish?.

- Could you tell my body to start reacting?. I don't mind dieting and exercising...I'm actually loving being active again, but it would be nice to see a positive response from my body letting me know it's going to let go of those last few pounds...

Lastly (because I don't want to be greedy and ask for too much), could you make the babies drop the 4am feeding? :)

Thank you Santa!

Love,

Andreina

2009, here we come!

Happy New Year!. We got back today from our Marco Island mini-getaway. It was great!. Best company, beautiful hotel, spectacular beach, breathtaking sunsets (gotta love the West Coast!), a great pool, good food and of course...some good wine! (Alejandro's decided to crash our wine cabinet prior to heading down!).

The wine turned out to be a great idea because we quickly settled into a nice little routine while we were there (Wed-Sat). We would hit the beach/pool and relax (read, write resolutions, etc). We would then take a little walk down the beach, then back for a little more relaxation. Then it was time to get a workout in before hurrying up stairs to open a bottle, pour our selves to nice glasses of wine and head back down to the beach to take in the Sunset. A-w-e-s-o-m-e. Then back up stairs, polish off the wine while getting ready and go out for dinner.

I am ready for 2009!. My home office has been cleaned up and the calendars in there have been updated!. While on the beach, I used a handy little notebook my Mother-in-law gave me to write down some resolutions. To say I don't believe in resolutions would be a flat out lie!. I LOVE resolutions, I just never remember what they were!...so I truly can't say whether I followed through. I am sure this is my mind's self defensive way to keep me from thinking I'm a failure at the end of each year.

So I thought since I now have this little blog, I should write them here. This could be dangerous as my dad is my #1 Fan and I know he will remember (even if I don't, or if this blog entry mysteriously disappears before the end of '09!)

In either case, here it goes!

#1 - Finish my name Change -- I am basically two people at all times. For some things, and the majority of things, I still have my Maiden name. For other things I have married name. It is time to get it straight because it is a major pain in the behind. I was at the Dr's office last week and they had a hard time knowing who was waiting in the room...was it Miss "S" or Mrs "B"?? I even over heard them calling the insurance company because they wanted to verify the person sitting in the waiting area was the insured. Nice!.

My goal is to have this done prior to our 1st year anniversary (that means everything! frequent flyer accounts, insurance, bank accounts, auto stuff and all the systems at work -which will be painful-) ...I better get going!.

#2 - Run at least 40 miles a month -- I will track my progress here in the box to the right (which I just noticed is in urgent need of an update!!...I guess that's resolution #2B!). Along with this resolution I wrote down some mini goals while I was at the beach: Get My Ipod-Nike+ calibrated so I start tracking things more accurately, sign up for more races, join a run club.

#3 - Get organized in EVERY room -- The house still needs some stuff (like the new bedroom set I've been eyeing from Pottery Barn, a chandelier, a new mirror...etc, etc - I could go on and on, but this is a resolution list, not a wish list!). Buying and selecting all those things take time until you find just the perfect piece at the perfect price. However, the house has everything it needs to be a home...so it's time to get organized. I mean *every* corner in this house. I plan on selecting at least one space per month (no matter how big or small) and getting it organized!. I will post it here so I can hold myself accountable, and so you can laugh at the mess or smile at the transformation.

I have other ones that I don't want to write as resolutions because they should just be part of my life. What are those, you ask? (you didn't really, but I'll tell you anyway). Have a colorful diet (skittles don't count...and white and brown to be limited!), continue to work on getting back in shape (to lose the newlywed 12 lbs!) and continue to enjoy and be grateful for everything we have, starting with health!.

So what are your goals/resolutions for 2009? Feel free to share!

Here are some pictures from our mini get-away ;) Enjoy!

Last Sunset of 2008...

Let's get this party started! (and look at my super-handsome husband!)

A little later...me jumping in bed, Alejandro wondering how old I am ;)

Day 2, Alejandro as we walked down to see the first sunset of 2009!

And me as we waited for dinner (a little chilly!)

And here was our last Sunset of the trip, Jan 2nd.

Good bye Marco Island, I will miss you.

I'm here to brag...

Because well, it's my blog, so I can! ;))

Click, click!!! (I promise it is safe to click!) ---> Bragging

So yeahhh, I did it!!. To celebrate my new Milestone, the big 1-0-0, I gave my Nike-mini a mini make-over...she's also sporting a brand new shining "#1" Tag on her shirt, so she can brag all over town (ok, all over this blog, but whatever).

I simply can't believe I have RAN all those miles!. I started at a pace of 11.5 or so, now I'm in the 9s. My average run (according to the Nike+ site) is 3.5 miles long. That's just, my regular, good ol', average run!...WOW!!. I just can't believe it. That's the thing I love the most about running, you really see the improvement when you stick to it. I've also noticed that a good strength/toning routine for the legs really helps with the pace and overall feel when you run.

This week it was tough, due to a cold...but I went running yesterday and had a GREAT run! 4.5 miles, averaging 9.38 mins per mile!. Tomorrow is the day I practice the 10K distance (which is just a little over 6 miles)...exactly one week before the race, so wish me luck! :)

On another note, I've become a vampire fanatic along with all the other teenagers in the country. I know I'm not the only one in her twenties (...*thirties*..cough, cough) that has fallen in the spell....so I'm not ashamed, well, maybe a little, but hey...how can I, a simple human, not fall for the dazzling effects of these vampires! ;)

Coming soon, pictures of our Christmas decorated house!! :)

Boot Camp, Day 1.

Hello campers readers.

So today was the first day of boot camp. The class was great...it was about 6 of us plus the instructor. It was a chilly morning, chilly for South Florida anyway..in the 50s!. I woke up at 7 to get a light breakfast before the class at 8am...by the time 8am rolled around, I truly felt ready to go.

After warming up, we did a push up and run test. I guess the last week we do the same tests and gauge how much we improved.

My results...
I was able to do 20 push ups on my toes + 15 on my knees. . The run was about a 1.2 mile run, as fast as you could go (did I mention it was in the 50s??...brrr). I was the newbie camper and came in first!! woohoo, my moment of glory!. My time was 9.10, not too shabby for just over a mile. I'm hoping to be in the 8s on the last week, we will see!

After that, we did 3 stations with 2 sets of 3 different types of exercises in each (lunges, squats, jumping rope, push ups, etc). after each station, we would run around the court after and finished up the class with one last time through all the stations (one set only). It was a good workout and I'm still feeling it!...(specially in my legs!)

BUT...

:(

It was not as good as my last Boot Camp. The one I attended for a little over a year and was forced to give up because of moving :(( ...ahhh, how I miss that Boot Camp. It was awesome! I'm trying to convince my sister to go so I can live it through her ;)

But it's ok, this one was still great and there is still nothing like getting a good workout outside!!. The rest of the day I felt energetic and great...until about 3pm, when I felt ready to crash and for a nap. Right now it's almost 5pm and I'm sipping a little Java, just to get me through!.

Tomorrow it's Day 2!. I don't think I can manage to run anymore today, so I will call that a day and hope to go running Friday and Sunday.

Happy Hump Day!
