Yesterday I was so eager to get my weekly dose of Alcohol bright and early. Turns out the Doctor decided against giving it to me for a variety of reasons. The good news is that he does think the Morton neuroma is doing better and just got disturbed from the high heel walking in NYC.
He recommended a little "bootie"...although it's more like a pad with two holes for the 2nd and 3rd toe. He recommended to use this pad when wearing high heels, for extra support and to help raise the toes a bit. This is what is used for "Hammer Toes", but he thinks it will also help relief the pain from the neuroma.
I also plan to keep it under control by getting more supportive/cushioning socks, massaging the area under the toes and icing/elevating the foot after long runs.
Since I didn't get the shot, I decided to celebrate by going to the gym to my favorite class..."South Beach Sweat". I never make it because I'm usually still working at that time, but I was able to make it yesterday and got my butt kicked!. Got my butt kicked in a way only Boot camp is able to do...so I am sore today!.
I swear if that scale doesn't start going down soon I'm just going to lose it. I seriously don't know if this is the 30's curse or the newlywed curse...but it has been VERY hard to lose those stubborn lbs!!.
And how about that Inauguration?. I loved the first dance (even teared up a bit) and Michelle Obama's dress was spectacular!. I love the fact that you can see their love and commitment just by the way they look at each other. The crowds and the speeches were very inspiring and I have hope and faith that this change will be a positive one.
*but*
I do have to admit it bugged me that in the midst of this economic crisis they can afford to spend 150 million for the inauguration (don't quote me, I just read that number somewhere). Apparently only a third of that came from private sources....so how about the 100 million remaining?. I mean, I'm all for celebrating and nobody loves a party more than me (ask the hubster)...but it just seems a bit extreme. It's a little ironic, considering the hard time they were giving the car makers a hard time for having "extravagant" meetings in Phoenix. I've been to that hotel in Phoenix during my business travel....it's not *that* extravagant. I would think it is important to lead by example. If it's time to buckle up, then we should ALL buckle up!
In any case, change is good and to me what matters is to see how the country is coming together. I hope everyone feel a sense of renewal with this change, recharge the batteries, take ownership of their own futures and work hard!.
To celebrate the Inauguration I made "Inauguration Pasta". I'll be posting the recipe and pictures soon, so stay tuned ;)
