I haven't slept more than 2 hours straight in well over 2 months. I know what you're thinking..."Your babies are only one month old! We told you to sleep while you could when you were pregnant". Yeah, that sounded like a great idea, but unfortunately my bladder, hips and back had other plans during my last few months of my twin pregnancy.
Now it's 2;45am. I have Alex on my chest and he must have gas..he must have SOMETHING. No matter how much I burp him, nothing comes out. I already changed him, nothing. It's ok, I'll rock him and love him until he decides it's time to go back to bed...or until my other baby wakes up and requires the same attention.
It's not easy..having two little ones..I can't imagine how moms of triplets or more do it!.
Not every night is bad...when I'm lucky they both go to sleep after the feeding/burping cycle, which takes place every two to three hours (from the beginning of one feeding to the next..and the cycle takes about 30-40 minutes).
Not tonight.
9pm-10:30pm: Lucas has a freak out session. He fights sleep, is fussy, screams, cries, etc. This sessions have been taken place every night, so we come to expect them now.
10:30pm-11pm: Hubster and I feed and burp the babies...we then swaddle, rock a bit and to bed.
11pm-11:45pm: Lucas is not ready to go down without a fight. Takes a few tries and he finally gives in and goes to sleep.
1am: babies wake up, hungry. I make bottles and wake my mom up.
1:15 am: babies decide they are actually not hungry, they rather go back to bed. Yes, we did try to tickle them in an effort to make them eat..nothing. I put them back in bed and look at my full bottles I will have to throw away...
1:30am: Lucas decides he's hungry now..I rock him and buy myself a few more minutes as he drifts back in sleep.
1:45am: Alex thinks it's time to eat...I try the trick that worked with his brother, but nothing...
2am: I make new bottles, wake up my mom and we feed and burp the babies.
I put them on the bassinet and it starts.
Alex cries. I pick him up, burp him a little more, rock him a little...
Until..
Lucas cries. I pick him up, burp him a little more, rock him a little...
Until...
Lucas cries..
Ok, you get the idea. the cycle repeats itself a few times until Lucas is out...but not Alex.
So here I sit 20 minutes later..
And wait, he's finally sleeping again!. Off to bed before I miss my chance!

Oh the spelling errors are all to be expected. Especially with two little ones in the house.. when do you ever have a free hand, much less, two?
I hope they start sleeping a little better for you, soon. Sounds rough. I have a feeling that I'll soon be in that same battle.
(I'm 39w, today and getting induced at 7pm, tonight!) WOO HOO!
